IRGC: Iran Holds Strategic Advantage; U.S. Threats Met with Firm Resistance

Iranian officials, including the IRGC spokesman, warned that military pressure on Iran has repeatedly failed and that the country holds the upper hand in any potential conflict.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) stated that Iran maintains strategic superiority in shaping the outcome of any potential conflict, emphasizing that military pressure on the Islamic Republic has consistently failed to produce results.

IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Ali-Mohammad Naeini said on Wednesday that the 12‑day war imposed on Iran by the Israeli regime and the United States in June proved that “the military option against Iran has collapsed.”

He added that efforts to intimidate Iran through military posturing—such as the recent deployment of a U.S. aircraft carrier—are nothing new, describing them as an “old and ineffective tactic used by American officials.”

Naeini attributed the regional military escalation to what he called the White House’s “confusion and desperation” in the face of Iran’s steadfastness during both the war and the failed U.S.- and Israeli-backed armed unrest earlier in January.

According to him, after the “swift and decisive defeat of the American-backed sedition,” U.S. officials attempted to stir tensions and spread fear within Iranian society.

However, he said such attempts have repeatedly failed because anti-Iranian measures have always met “the firm wall of the Iranian people and national unity.”

‘Reality on the ground’ versus media narratives

Naeini also criticized hostile media outlets for amplifying war rhetoric alongside the U.S. military buildup, saying the actual situation on the ground was far different from the image portrayed by adversarial propaganda.

“We are in full control of the situation,” he said, noting that the IRGC is proud to serve as “the shield of the great Iranian nation against any plot.”

He added that Iran’s Armed Forces closely monitor enemy movements and have “operational plans prepared for every possible scenario.”

Referring to previous confrontations, Naeini said the enemy “has not forgotten our initial strikes on al-Udeid,” the key American airbase in Qatar that was heavily targeted by Iranian ballistic missiles in retaliation for Washington’s role in the 12‑day war.

He stressed that Iran has extensive experience confronting adversaries in modern warfare “on a large scale” and in “the most complex and dangerous battlefields.”

Broader warnings

His remarks echoed similar warnings issued by other Iranian officials.

Also on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s Armed Forces are ready to respond “immediately and powerfully” to any aggression, noting that the military remains “with their fingers on the trigger.”

Araghchi added that Iran has absorbed “valuable lessons” from the 12‑day war, enabling a response that would be “swift and deeply impactful.”

Meanwhile, Ali Shamkhani, senior adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, warned that any U.S. military action would be considered the beginning of war and would trigger an “immediate, comprehensive, and unprecedented” response.

These statements came after U.S. President Donald Trump said on January 27 that “another beautiful armada” of warships—alongside the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier—was “sailing beautifully toward Iran,” claiming the deployment was intended to pressure Tehran into negotiations.

Trump warned that failure to reach an agreement would lead to a military strike “far worse” than the U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities in June.
